Universal Title Searchers recognises and respects your rights to privacy and will comply with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) as set out in Schedule 3 of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 with regard to the handling and use of any Personal Information disclosed to Universal for the purpose of providing services as requested by its clients.

This Privacy Statement outlines the practices we follow to protect any such Information that comes to us in the normal course of operating our business.

Information We Collect

Universal only collects information about its account customers from the Account Application forms they complete and other information such as is necessary to enable search services to be provided.

Use of Information Collected

The information collected is used in the management of chargeable services for customers and may form a database which Universal may use from time to time to advise of new products and services. This information is never made available for any purpose to any organisation outside of Universal.

Security of Information Collected

Universal takes all reasonable steps to protect all personal information collected, by:

• utilising the latest computer technology including secure servers, secure logins with structured privileges for each staff member, firewalls and encryption, and
• requiring all Universal staff members to sign a confidentiality statement in which they agree not to disclose any personal information.

Whilst Universal is confident that its range of security controls will safeguard all personal information from unauthorised access, users should be aware that the Internet is a public network which must give rise to some potential risk of a user's transaction being viewed. It is therefore impossible to guarantee the protection of your personal data absolutely.
